Remember the AOL chat rooms?

I met so many people through AOL back in 1990’s-00’s then it just died. Anyplace you go to now is filled with bots, porn, sext DMs and pervs. Are there any REAL chat rooms like AOL anymore? I miss those days of the internet.

I remember msn chat. The problem is now everyone expects too much. When the internet first began it was new for everyone so there was no expectations and there was nothing to compare too

@GLITTER I remember the internet way back in the 80's, my Grandfather was a computer programmer since the early 70's, back then there was something called internet relay chat, but it was used more for specified discussions in college for academia, government, science, and programmers.

@NativePortlander1970 Yea IRC. I used it a couple of times, but found it difficult to use if you didn't have a channel name to connect to. Discord gives the same feeling like it's IRC, just in how it's set up, and you need a room name to connect to, usually by invitation.

@twiigss Back in the day there were irc platforms that made chatting and finding servers and channels a lot easier. I hear rumors that a few servers and channels still exist, but like you said, are invite only.
