On my way to do some shopping at a supermarket that sells a lot of end of line and near sell by date goods. It sometimes has something unusual or just unusually cheap and I'm looking for inspiration for Sunday dinner.

The shopping centre where I'm having my snack has a few empty shop units. One of them is being used by the local amateur art club. Here's a small selection of the nearly one hundred pictures on display. They have instituted a vote for best picture each month. Here's the winner for October. The artist has priced it at 10 000 NOK (791 GBP, 934 EUR,1 046 USD). Median income is about 56 kNOK per month (about 700 kNOK per year). So 10 kNOK less than a week's work for the median earner, say about 30 hours.. I wonder how many hours it takes to paint such a picture?

Just took a look at the Guardian and saw an article with this title

Capital punishment
I saw Iran execute a man in public. Is this what the US wants?

Isn't it pretty obvious that, contrary to Betteridge's law of headlines, the answer is a resounding yes?

The article ends with this:

It raises the question of whether, at least under Donald Trump, Washington and Tehran’s values are really so different after all.
