I haven't been back quite a fortnight yet and I've already sold eight items online for a total of 760 NOK! That's 60 GBP (79 USD or 70 EUR).
This sounds like a good rate. But I still have 197 items listed as well as a large pile of things that I haven't yet listed! Even at this unusually rapid rate the 197 items will take 320 days, otherwise known as 45 weeks or ten and a half months. So I'll have to get more aggressive about donating things that don't sell.
There's another interesting thing about selling on this platform and that is that last year they started using AI to assist in creating descriptions. It reads labels from the photographs to discover brand names, sizes, fabric types and uses image classification to recognize skirts, jumpers, dresses, etc. It doesn't always work but it fails well and instead of giving nonsense simply doesn't provide a description at all.
When I got back I discovered that they had added another feature which is to suggest three prices based on similar items that are already in their listings. So for the dozen of so items that I have added since returning I have simply chosen the middle price unless it was ludicrously underpricing the item. Two sold almost immediately at that price and that was a surprise because I thought that the suggested middle price was a bit high; perhaps I should choose the highest of the three prices next time!
