Nina's Blog - Monday 14th September 2026

I'm in the lovely little Goldfinch Bookshop in Alton, it has a café. Having a very nice slice of carrot cake and a prosecco.

Had a lovely chat about accents and Norway with the woman at the till when I bought Adam Kay's A Particularly Nasty Case.

When I got connected to the WiFi my mobile immediately pinged to say I had an email. I'm sure my blood pressure spiked when I saw it was from my brother in law.

I didn't draw another breath until I had read half way through and then almost burst into tears.

Not sorrowful tears. Tears of relief. Here is the line that made my day:
be who you want to be, stand tall in the wind, and be happy.

It's a good job I don't wear mascara.

Went to the Co-op to buy a quiche for dinner. Found that I had over forty minutes to wait for my bus back to Hook so I'm at the Goldfinch Bookshop having an Americano while I wait.

I'm feeling shattered, as though I had been holding my breath since Saturday.

Today's outfit. The forecast claimed it was 23 C but it felt cooler so I added a jacket on top of the almost see through blouse.

That's so nice to read. Why do we get so scared of telling anyone? And I say this knowing I'm still not coming out to people I may not meet again for years.

@ninalanyon Just take it all as it goes, and remember there's really no hurry, just enjoy the journey.
ninalanyon · 70-79, T
@22Michelle I'm not sure about the lack of hurry. If I make it to average life span I have less than fifteen years left!

I need to make hay while the sun shines!

:-)

@ninalanyon 15 years is still a lot of time to play with

I get what you're saying though. We get to a point where you realise you are no longer young and have the world at your feet. Enjoy what you are doing, whether it's having coffee and cake or cock up your bum.
