Discovered the best place to eat in Wells. I walked roughly the same route into Wells as I did yesterday with B. but didn't go into the pub. I carried on along the road and saw the Wells Emporium. I thought I'd take a look at the knick knacks but the door I went into turned out to be that of The Good Earth café. It's a bit of a rabbit warren but I found my way to the counter service queue. Had to keep moving back to let people laden with trays of food come out to find a place to sit. Fell into conversation with the couple just ahead of me. The woman said that the food here was very good and I explained that I was just here for coffee and cake. But when we got round the corner I saw what she meant and decided to have something more substantial instead. I had cauliflower cheese with roast potatoes and red wine gravy. The red wine gravy is actually a thick sauce of tomatoes and other vegetables. It's by far the best food I have had for months and also very reasonably priced; it was just 13.05 GBP for the cauliflower cheese and a pot of tea. Worlds apart from the miserable panini and coffee that I paid almost 20 GBP for in The Long Story Bistro.
