After a long and pleasant walk down to where the Trent is joined by the Beeston canal at the Beeston end then along the canal to the big Boots distribution centre and from there to Highfield Park I decided to stop at the D H Lawrence Pavilion café for coffee. But it has no air conditioning and a lot of south west facing glass so it was hotter inside than out!. So I kept going and now I'm in the café under the Portland building. It faces the sun even more precisely just now but it's at least four times as deep and the windows are not so tall so it's much cooler at the back where the sun doesn't reach. And it's a big stone building
Having a salmon, cucumber, cream cheese and dill bagel and a large Americano.
