Nina's Blog - Monday 22nd June 2026

Drove to Keighley to buy a a USB disk to back up my laptop at Currys but they didn't have the one I wanted. A helpful assistant checked the stock at nearby Currys and found two in Bradford and two in Halifax. Of the two places I prefer Halifax so I'm on my way there via the Tesla charger at Hartshead Moor services.

I would have put it off until tomorrow because I also wanted to visit the Cliffe museum in Keighley but when I asked the car to plot the route it told me that the museum is closed on Mondays.

Today's outfit is an unlined Adidas mini skirt and a lace top.

After visiting Currys to buy the external 4 TB disk I found a car park and then walked into Halifax. The first thing I did, of course, was to visit a few charity shops. Bought a pair of colourful earrings for a pound.

In the Mamil Café bar, Halifax, having a half of Bread and Butter modern ale (!) and a piece of carrot cake.

I thought I might have afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco at Harvey's department store. But they want twenty five quid! I'm sure it was only fifteen when I was here about three years ago. Perhaps I'm misremembering, I wonder if I wrote it down.

It's annoying how many places (like museums) are closed on Mondays. We encountered that in Birmingham last Autumn

@ArtieKat I think it's quite reasonable, much better than being closed on Sunday. Museum employees need time off too but the museum should be open when working people can get to them. Especially working people with children.

I was in Shrewsbury on Sunday recently and the town museum was closed. Cliffe Castle in Keighley is open on Sundays. But I have another bone to pick with them, they are only open until 16:00, so that again makes them inaccessible to working people during the week.

Us idle pensioners can arrange to fit in with such opening hours but how is a working mother supposed to be able to take her children to a museum or art gallery if they are only open while she is at work and the children are at school?

No other computer shops, perhaps an independant dealer, in Keighley?
ninalanyon · 70-79, TVIP
@ArishMell I tried to find one before going to Currys. But none had what I wanted according to their websites. Most of them turned out to be either repair shops or offering support services to commercial customers.
