Taking a long walk today. Well probably not much longer than yesterday but deliberately this time. Already done 10 000 steps.

Walked from my hotel on Mansfield Road to the Trent Building on the Nottingham University campus. I was hoping that the Trent café would be open but it's not so I'm in the Portland instead having an Americano and a vegan curry slice.

Between the gallery and the Arboretum I stopped at the Organ Grinder where I had a half of Lilly's cider. Unfortunately they didn't have the straight cider so I had one flavoured with mango.

There was a guy at the bar who seemed to be in control of the background music and he asked me what song I would like played. I replied that I'm not much of a song person as far as pop is concerned. But he pressed the point so I said some early Floyd. He baulked at that saying they are too long so I listed a load of late 1960s and early 1970s bands eventually settling on War Pigs as an appropriate song for the times.

[Verse 1]
Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields, the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh, Lord, yeah
[Instrumental Break]

[Bridge]
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that all to the poor, yeah
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgment day comes, yeah

[Guitar Solo]

[Verse 2]
Now, in darkness, world stops turning
Ashes where their bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of Judgment, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercies for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
Oh, Lord, yeah

[Instrumental Outro]

My route back took me through the Arboretum which was full of people enjoying the sunshine, some alone, some couples, some much larger groups.

On the way back to my hotel I stopped at the Lakeside gallery. The display of pencil drawings is stunning especially Penny McCarthy's drawings of water and her woodcuts after Titian.

This is how I felt viewing Penny McCarthy's pictures

Today's outfit doesn't reveal my navel. Can you guess what the skirt used to be?
