Decided that it's too hot in my room so I'm writing this in the attached pub which is air conditioned. Having a pint of Chase Best Bitter and a packet of McCoy's steak crisps. You used to be able to get beef flavoured crisps, is steak meant to be a different flavour or is it somehow more upmarket to say steak rather than beef?

@22Michelle If you want them wrapped around you don't leave it too many years,I've already noticed that they are not as flexible a they used to be!

@ninalanyon I wish I was confident I'd be getting more free and mobile in the near future, but it's not looking good.

@ninalanyon why not , in this weather it's difficult keeping my clothes on

@skimpyboy I'm mostly walking around in town centres so the recent outfits are close to as minimal as I can go. I do have some even skimpier things but there is plenty of summer yet for them :-)

@ninalanyon sounds nice and I know places where I can be naked and need to try Turton towers

There was no usable WiFi in the museum cafe so here are the notes I made:
In the café at the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum
There is WiFi but it's one of those stupid ones that sends a text with the password. So if the text doesn't arrive or if you do not actually have a mobile you are out of luck.
Drinking a pot of tea while waiting for an Italian ! Scotch egg to be heated. Surely it shouldn't take more than five minutes?
Just arrived. It is nice and hot but somewhat lacking in Italian-ness; the coating tastes only vaguely of black olives.
Something I've been meaning to write down for a while. I bought a bag of apples a few days ago thinking that I really should eat more fruit. But it seems that they act like dwarf bread, having one with me means that almost anything else seems palatable!
Beats me why because if you were to ask me I would say that I like apples
The Art Gallery was annoying. Instead of cards detailing the name, date, artist, etc. for the paintings they just have numbers so you have to find a leaflet that connects the numbers with the descriptions. Even worse there are plaques at the start of each decade mentioning some significant works. But they don't specify the number so you have to trawl through the leaflet to find the description and the number.
There was a table with some reference books and just one copy of the key leaflet. And there is a big notice at the entrance to the gallery forbidding photography
This is the first gallery I have visited in years that has a blanket ban on photographing the works. Most just say no tripods and no flash; and this is to avoid inconveniencing other visitors. The Pitt Rivers even allows flash and explicitly points out that the short duration light won't harm the exhibits.
Even the Lady Lever gallery at Port Sunlight allows photos and it's a much grander gallery with many world famous pictures.

Something I've noticed while walking around Nuneaton over the last week: in the centre of town most of the shops are:
- vape shops
- charity shops
- bookies/gaming parlours
- cafes
- takeaway food
- phone repair and secondhand shops
- corner shops. They are nominally grocers but sell little or no fresh produce and almost no basic ingredients.
This isn't a formal survey, just a impression. But it is such a contrast to where I live. The big town nearest where I live is a similar size to Nuneaton but has only three charity shops, it has no betting shops and no gaming establishments, no vape shops, only two phone repair shops.
