In the café at the Willis Museum and Sainsbury Gallery in Basingstoke. Having a slice of Battenburg cake and an Americano.

Had a lot of trouble posting not only the picture but also the post itself. Turned on Proton VPN and now it works. Very odd because the site didn't seem to be completely blocked.

Anyway I had a walk from Bolton Arch to the far end of the Crabtree Plantation earlier. Apart from it being a very pleasant walk it also meant I discovered that I'd put the wrong knickers on while I was away from people. They just didn't hold things in properly. Luckily I had one of my trusty M&S thongs in the centre console of my car so I could change before heading to the museum.

@meggie Thank you for the compliment, but I'm not quite that well endowed!

In the Willows coffee shop having a ham, bacon, and goat's cheese olive bread toastie with a mocha.

Excellent toastie! And the mocha tastes distinctly of chocolate.

The café has a naughty corner.

The Willis museum is very good. A great example of a local museum. In addition to the permanent exhibitions they are currently running a celebration of bees and bee keeping.

Back in my motel room feeling sleepy, wondering if I should have a nap or will that just disrupt my sleep tonight.

Edit 20:16: I got into bed with a cup of tea and a book. Read for a few minutes and then tried to doze off. Must have worked even though I was sure I couldn't fall asleep because I'm quite sure I wasn't lying there awake for over two hours!

Leafing through The Guardian's website I came across an article about trying to live without oil based products for a day. I was struck by this
about 1.5bn items of new clothing were bought in Australia last year – equivalent to 55 garments per person
That's an average of more than one per week per person!

It's possible that I buy that much but mine is all second hand except for the occasional pair of stockings or undies.

The first thing you see when entering the museum proper is an ancient Egyptian coffin with a recorded speech describing the deceased's life
