Remember the steering assist dropouts? I scheduled a service at Tesla but the first available appointment is 9th April, more than a month away. As I'm reluctant to drive the car in case the steering servo fails completely I sent a message to Tesla asking if this really was the earliest possible appointment. A couple of hours later I had a phone call from Tesla . The guy suggested that I could try a third party mechanic. Which sounded like a reasonable idea as this is not a Tesla specific part, the steering column is from Bosch. But as he was saying it a glimmer of an idea occurred to me and thanked him for the call and said I'd stick with the 9th April.

The idea is that I can use this as a way of 'forcing' myself to change my behaviour a little. I had already noticed that my trips out have become a little repetitive and was wondering if I could be bothered to travel a little further afield. Also going out driving ends up using most of the day.

Well the lack of a car forces a different perspective. I can either go on the bus or only go as far as I can walk. The bus has the same disadvantage as the car in that it ends up occupying most of the day, in fact for the same destinations it takes even more time, organization, and expense.

So I'm going to stay at home for a month and try to make better use of my time than I have been doing.

On my laptop I have a script that picks a random picture from my library of images every time I log in. Last time it picked this (from Skye Baker's Foreign Bodies installation at Warrington Museum):
