Nina's Blog - Tuesday 23rd December 2025

Tuesday 23rd December 2025, 10:56

Today's errands are late Christmas cards to post and last minute grocery shopping.

Having breakfast at the usual place :-)

It's only -1 C today so the robads are wet but there is a fair amount of frost as you can see in this picture taken from my couch in the IKEA restaurant

Today's outfit is not really suitable for cold weather but I'm not intending to be outside for very long as this outing is just for a bit of last minute shopping. I need digestive biscuits for a cheesecake and sherry or port or both to go with mince pies.

I seem to be the only one wearing high heels, at least I almost never hear any others. It's curious to notice people's reactions. Most adults don't pay me any attention at all but when small girls hear my heels they turn around and look wide eyed at me. I haven't been able to figure out if they are more surprised by the heels, my miniskirt, or my face.

@ninalanyon You look very festive! 🎄

@Rickichickie Red is my favourite colour :-)

This Christmas period has been a bit strange, very few people are dressed up. It seems that more and more people are reserving colourful clothing for parties. Such a waste.

I really don't understand it. All my clothes, except undies and tights are secondhand so someone chose to buy them. Also the charity shops only carry things that they know will sell so that means other people are buying them too not just me.

So if people have colourful clothes why is everyone wearing boring black and dull grey clothing?

@ninalanyon a good question. Winter is the time of grey, black, dark blue and brown. Maybe because it’s often muddy? In this dark time, some bright and colourful clothes would help to lift the mood.
