The apples I took out of the freezer a few days ago are thawed out now so it's time to juice them.

Have I mentioned that I'm lazy? I'll do it after breakfast.

Then I'll have to take more out of the freezer to thaw again and collect more too.

I collected two more buckets of apples and juiced them to add to the bin of juice I did earlier. I got an extra 8 kg of juice and 4 kg of pulp, 66% juice, which is odd because that is a better extraction rate than from the frozen and then thawed apples. I'm pretty confident it was the other way about in previous years. But the thawed apples did behave a little oddly and the juice had a lot of fine pulp in it. The apples behaved a bit like pears. Pears are impossible to juice in this juicer because the pulp is so fine it just goes straight through the mesh of the centrifuge.

Now I have 27 kg of juice and I've thrown out 18 kg of pulp giving an average extraction rate of 60 %.

Perhaps I let them thaw too long, it was one day longer than usual (did I mention my laziness?). So I'll juice the next lot sooner.
