Nina's Blog - Monday 20th October 2025

Monday 20th October 2025, 12:27

Perhaps keeping the diary on days when not much is expected to happen should be done in reverse: write an entry about what i intend to do instead of waiting until I've done something.

So here's today's forecast:

- collect windfall apples to make cider. No point juicing them yet because I haven't got any yeast so they'll ave to go in the freezer. Done. Collected two buckets full

- book a slot at a tyre fitter to have the wheels swapped on my car because we ar close to the time when we need winter tyres. But first I'd better check the tread depth on the winter tyres in case i need to order new tyres as well. Done. No new tyres need but I am going to be a couple of days late getting them changed. The deadline is 1st November. Luckily we aren't expecting any freezing temperatures until some days or weeks after that and the tyres on my car just now do have the requisite 3 mm tread depth.

- bake cinnamon rolls with the dough that was started yesterday. Done, they are in the oven.

- check my car to see if the carpet inside has dried yet. Forgot to check that when I went out to the car to check the tread depth. Grr, mind like a sieve.

- more tidying. Done but only a tiny amount.

That's enough, no point in pretending I'll do lots of stuff.

These look like lots of stuff already!

That’s OK. Nobody will lose any sleep and life won’t grind to a halt. 🤣

@RedBaron True enough. But it's supposed to be a diary and I want to be able to use it to look back on my life later so recording the more quotidian days is useful to give a more rounded picture of what I've been up to. Also I want to encourage myself to do something each day that isn't just mindless web surfing!

@ninalanyon Not that there’s irony in doing it as part of your mindless web surfing or anything. 🤣

@RedBaron It reduces the mindlessness slightly!
