Notsimilarreally I've been lucky in some ways. My interests at school translated into a degree in a subject that was in demand in industry which in turn gave me a reasonably well paid career so I've reached this point with no money worries.
Being both retired and widowed I have no one to please but myself so I've decided to spend summers exploring the parts of the UK that I didn't see when i lived there.
But, there is always a but. I really do wish that I had done a lot of this earlier. I retired early but that was still at the age of sixty two. If I had been more directed, perhaps a little more ambitious, I might have been able to retire ten years earlier and lived the good life for longer and also with my wife before she died instead of being at work all the time.
So don't envy me, rather make your life into the life you want before it's too late. Don't go through life as I did not realizing what I really wanted, who I really was.
Still, I love life and generally look forward to the next adventure rather than backward to the things I didn't do. In fact I'm looking forward to going home in a couple of weeks for a rest! All this sight seeing is wearing me out :-)
