Nina's Blog - Wednesday 17th September 2025

It was quite a struggle deciding what to do today. It was raining hard when I got up. Not my idea of ideal weather for tramping around the footpaths around the holiday park. So I decided to visit Liskeard by car.

Glad I did because Liskeard has an excellent little museum and lots of charity and secondhand shops.

Now I'm in The Hive having a quite reasonable mocha and a slice of lemon polenta cake

The local museum has an eclectic collection of exhibits. There is of course a room devoted to tin mining and the machinery involved but there is also a room devoted to toys and another to textiles.

I was especially taken by some free style embroidery

This one is especially good

Wish I was there.

@JSul3 Thank you, glad you like them. I love to visit the small local museums, they are often much more interesting than the big famous ones.

You have lovely legs and love the short skirt .
Just been in ages UK and they have a mini skirt in bright orange / red and sure it not quite long enough

@ninalanyon that's short but I do like it

@ninalanyon That skirt looks really good, especially from the rear.

@22Michelle The purple one? I was a bit nervous about wearing that one to begin with. But then I thought: If not now, when? Perhaps I should make that my motto; in Latin of course because then it's so much more official :-)

Si non nunc, quando? Fac nunc!

At least that's what Google says is the Latin for
If not now, when? Do it now!

My Latin is good enough to see that Google is accurate but not good enough to say whether that is idiomatic or not.

Pictures of the mining exhibits.

There is a pile of pennies on top of this exhibit so that those who carry no cash can make it run.

There is another model that was apparently given as a gift to a boy who visited the area

In the room devoted to toys, mostly vehicles, is a large Meccano model of the James Watt pumping engine

@22Michelle Thank you! This skirt has a wide elasticated waistband, I folded it over several times to shorten it.
