Getting on for ten o'clock and I still haven't decided what to do or where to go today.

One of the guides at the Common Ground exhibition at the Wilson Gallery yesterday mentioned that he though there might be a choir there today singing something related to the exhibits.

I'm in two minds about attending that.

I went back to the Wilson to go around the Common Ground exhibition again. This time I paid more attention to the Boss Morris installation.

The guide asked me to write a few words in the visitor's book. I wrote about how Boss Morris had reminded me powerfully of rambling the fields of North Wiltshire and the Vale of the White Horse as a child over half a century ago.

By the time I put my name at the end I was almost overcome. The guide thanked me and I said thank you to him and stumbled through the doorway in tears. I'm not entirely sure why I cried, and why the tears are coming again. Perhaps I'm just getting sentimental in my old age. Or am I yearning for a simpler time,?

But of course it isn't just the times that have changed, I have too. The delight one felt as a child finding newts in the brook can't exactly be felt again after sixty years of 'growing up' if for no other reason that doing it knowingly afresh is not at all the same as doing it the first time in childhood innocence.
