Nina's Blog - Saturday 16th August 2025

Saturday 16th August 2025, 12:06

My car was finished by 17:00 after all. But by then I was more than halfway back to my room. I could have changed direction and walked to the service centre, it wouldn't have been much further than walking to my room and would have saved me the 7.5 km walk this morning.

But that's the point I don't want to avoid the walk. Today is good walking weather too. Also I took a slightly different route and walked along the canal where I saw an electric narrow boat glide by almost silently.

A while later I walked along the Trent towards West Bridgford where I've just had a nice pot of tea and a not terribly impressive avocado toast with a fried egg. The egg was good but the avocado was a bit thin on the ground.

Today's outfit is my shortest skirt and a wraparound blouse tied under the bodice

It does tend to ride up a little

Isn't life strange. I hardly noticed Fleetwood Mac when they were at the height of their powers in the '70s, but now when I hear them I am transported back to that time. Does anyone else have a similar feeling?

The background music here is playing Dreams from Rumours.

@ninalanyon I remember being more impressed by them when Peter Green was the main nan. After he left I really didnt pay much attention until Stevie Nicks and Libdsay Buckingham joined. And that was mostly because I had the hots for the gorgeous Lindsay Buckingham........although that was because I assumed Stevie was the guy. A mistake that some friends in London were more than happy to have me repeat as much as possible (the days when I was still determined to be straight, when sober). After that it wasn't until Rumours was released, and though it sold shedloads I remember it being a kind of slow burner. I think i eventually bought a copy in 1979, so I tend to think of that incarnation of Fleetwood Mac as being more an 80's band. It took a while before I realised that Chtristibe McVie was the fabulously talented Christine Perfect from Chicken Shack!

@ninalanyon Maybe try being everyone's?

@22Michelle If I were more self confident or perhaps simply less shy I would be. The further I go in this voyage of self discovery the more I think that had I known as a teenager what I know now and had the nerve to put it into practice I would have been beyond salvation. But a lifetime of being quiet and unassuming is hard to shake off, and if I did, then what? I have had a lifetime of failing to read between the lines. Damn it, this IPA has gone to my head, I'd be anyone's if only they asked.

@ninalanyon I know what you mean.I did thecsilly stuff back when I could only go for it when drunk.
It's very weird, but now I'm older and wiser(?) I'm much less bothered about some aspects of my dressing, my sexuality and yet in other ways much more worried about some of the consequences about coming out to everyone.
