Supposed to be meeting someone in Nantwich at 09:30. But I left a message on Fabguys yesterday asking if it was still on and I can see that it has been read. But he hasn't replied; that's not a good sign.

Edit at 09:44 He was supposed to call this morning with the exact address but hasn't and there's still no no answer on Fabguys. So that's off then.

So I headed to Nantwich after all. It's a much more attractive place. The main street has enough old buildings to be interesting and several attractive cafés.

I'm in the Pillory Café in Pillory Street having a cheese flan and an excellent mocha. The chocolate at the bottom was not a syrup but pieces of chocolate, and it's served in the right glass.

Time for bed. Had a call earlier this evening from a guy from Fabguys who had made a tentative arrangement for us to meet at his place on my way from Crewe to Nottingham tomorrow. Now he has given me the address a well. So perhaps I'll have some fun tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.

Instead of heading for Nantwich I went to Winsford to look at the Salt Stacks. I suppose it is supposed to have something to do with the salt mines that used to be worked here.

But if that's the case why are all the small elements that make up the stacks made as octahedrons? Sodium chloride crystals are cubic.

Same with those examples I offered: they are all no more than general-knowledge or at highest, dictionary, level.

@ArishMell I thought I'd better look up the crystal structure of sodium chloride just in case I'd made a mistake. It all hinges on point of view. I was thinking of the sodium and chlorine together, that indeed is cubic. However the octahedrons refer to one species, either the Na+, or the Cl- but not both together. So the artwork reflects a less visible structure than what one can see with the naked eye.

So i was a little hasty in my criticism.

Interesting description of the sculptures, despite the slightly pretentious tone as usual with anything artistic - I like those nocturnal photographs.
