Nina's Blog - Tuesday 10th June 2025

Tuesday 10th June 2025, 11:50

A very slow start today, woke up at about 09:30 after going to sleep a little after midnight. I've spent the morning so far continuing to write up yesterday's 21 k step trek and also to book the service for my car to get the headlight fixed. So I have to be in Nottingham in ten days time. So planning accommodation for the next two weeks will be this evening's task.

In other news: I've cut myself shaving! I think that's the first time in several years. I had thrown away the disposable razor I've been using to shave my legs and body as it seemed that it was getting dull. I have a load of unused disposable razors and I just picked a new one at random but it doesn't seem as well made as the previous one. It doesn't have any markings on it saying who made it but the other one was Gillette. The new one is in the bin too now and I'll use another Gillette next time.

Now i have a couple of bits of tissue paper stuck to my right shin! Not exactly the best look.

As you can see by the time stamp today is going to be much less strenuous. I think I'll just stroll down to the museum.

As usual I'm behind in my diary. Just now I'm in the Alehouse, Broad Street.

Here's the ceiling

And what's left of my pint of Summer Lightning

It's a very comfortable place, quite incongruous amongst all the modern chain cafés and trendy ethnic restaurants.

The background music is mostly indy heavy rock.

They have some bag in box ciders behind the bar. So now I have to make a decision; should I have some cider now or put it off until tomorrow. Or have some now and tomorrow?

Most of the people here have an air of being regulars. Almost all of the men proclaim there love of beer, and cider, by the beer bellies that precede them! :-)

I can't make out the bar person. They have a distinctly male voice but no Adam's apple that I can see. They have unfashionably long hair for a man these days, just long not in a fashionable man bun.

But the whole place is a throwback to a mythical combination of 1969s, hippy chic, and real ale, so perhaps it's just his style.
