Today's task is to dump the old faithful washing machine at the municipal rubbish dump. It's heavier than the new one because it uses great lumps of concrete to stabilise. No. 1 son lightened it a little by removing one of those but it was still a bit of a struggle for two of us to get it up the cellar stairs. I left it to Nos. 1 and 2 to heave it into the car.
We'll take it up to the dump after lunch and then I'll have to do my bit lifting it out of the car because there is only room for one passenger now. I sometimes wish I still had my old square Volvo 245. The rear door on the Model S slopes so much that I have to put the rear seats down so that I can push the washing machine far enough forward to allow the door to close.

@turbineman40 Do you mean a pick up? Or a sack truck? Anyway the first would not help much as it almost certainly would mean lifting the washing machine higher to get it on the bed and the most difficult part of moving the machine from where it was installed to the car was carrying it up the cellar stairs and then down the steps from the front door to the ground so a sack truck would also not help.
Besides I don't have either kind of truck :-)
Anyway, it's done now. We did four trips to the dump to get rid of bits of tree trunk as well. Didn't take long, it's less than five minutes drive from my house.

@turbineman40 It is comfy. But it's a bit cool so I'm wearing a fake fur waistcoat on top.

@jackrabbit10 The average temperature is low that's true, the annual average where I live is about 14 C. But we don't get the kind of extreme temperatures that the Northern US and Canada get. Over the last 13 months the temperature varied from -17°C til 28°C. In comparison, Central Park, New York which has a similar annual average temperature is at 26 C today whereas it is only 15 C here.
