🎶I Will Survive,Hey,Hey...🎶(I hope)

Well, I guess I'm on to a new doctor already.
I just started with this one in October.
After trying to communicate with this doctor for over a week, for different reasons, and last night's low (64) without any guidance or help or direction as what to do, I was told I would have to make a virtual appointment with her tomorrow.
Meanwhile if it goes down low tonight I still have no guidance.
I don't think the receptionist was supposed to say this, but she told me that a lot of people have this problem with this doctor.
I requested to see someone else.
I'll be seeing the nurse practitioner Monday until I can see my new doctor.
I have reached out to my diabetic educator to see if she could give me any advice in the meantime.

While you worked to get away from insulin I have been forced in the opposite direction. Thanks to Novo Nordisk stopped distribution of Levemir in the US I was switched to Lantus with 1 to 1 conversion prescription. Well for a week or so it worked that way then suddenly stopped. My morning numbers were suddenly the highest of the day. WTH?
I did some research and found a wealth of information about people in my same shoes.
Levemir is by far the superior of all slow acting insulin. My original prescription was 15 units/night and I had over time adjusted it to 9.
After reading about Lantus and understanding how it works differently I am now having to use 30 units a night to get the same Levemir numbers.
You've found your way to trying to work around none and I have double mine.
The disease and medications have their own annoying complications.

Good luck on your journey and stand your ground with the new doctor.

@Justmeraeagain Maybe not in vain.
I believe we can improve at any age unless some unexpected illness kills us. I'm 71 and living on a mostly glucose diet that would probably give an obese diabetic a heart attack. All my bloodwork has been good for years. I lost control of my a1c for a bit. It went to 7.3 but the doc said I was still fine.
Before I lost my taste and Vickie was still here I was eating 3 REAL meals a day with insulin and my a1c was 5.7 constantly for 3 years. Now I'm keeping it 6.3 to 6.8 depending on the spike durations. If I could eat real food again I'd be better off.

@Justmeraeagain When I was sick last week my doctor was booked up so I saw the nurse practitioner. She was really nice. I liked her. I hope you do too. 🙂

@Musicman Sometimes the nurse practitioners know a lot.

@Justmeraeagain Yes they do. Some really care and can even be better than some doctors.
