Happy New Year everybody! I hope it will be peaceful and prosperous for you all. And sexy too for those of us inclined that way ,-)

Been up about an hour. Started dough in the bread machine for bread rolls made with some of the left overs from yesterday. Just finished breakfast, also leftovers from yesterday :-)

Happy New Year to you. I hope 2025 is a better year for us all. I'm going for Scottish traditions on the 1st January. Having only got out of bed about 11am I shall be dozing in a chair, snacking on unhealthy foods, having a few glasses of wine, watching crap TV and thinking about a long healthy walk that almost certsinly won't happen. I have failed on the traditional hangover, which is probably a plus, I'm becoming a lightweight as I get older!
Last night we toasted the bells both in best dresses, actually both were my dresses! I went for the sparkles. I thought I had a few pics, but having reviewed them they've been deleted. Will see if I can get some good pics of tonight's outfit.

@ninalanyon Hogmanay is not what it once was. I remember hoing out eith friends atound 6-7pm on the 31st. We'd be partying all the way to the bells. And then we'd go first footing, going round all the homes of friends and relatives having a drink or two in each house. The walking between houses helped slow up getting drunk. It was usual to either crash on somebody's sofa or floor or stagger home for lunchtime on the 1st. And after a sleep and some food you'd be back out visiting those you missed the previous night. And then there would be parties over the next two or three weekends.

@22Michelle New Year was never such a big thing where I come from in the South West. But I do remember some of my parents' older friends first footing and bringing a present of a piece of coal. But it was already fading away by the time I was a young teenager over half a century ago!

Isn't it amazing the life our generation has had? To be able to look back on such an incredible expansion of human endeavour and achievement and to be able to reflect on our own place in it and the wonders still to come.

Here's a short video of one of the little firework batteries we set off

The kommunale fireworks that we watched earlier were much more impressive but there is something special about setting off one's own.

All this cooking, eating, and drinking is making me tired so I think I'll retire to bed with a snack and a glass of wine and read a few pages. Perhaps I'll feel wide awake enough in the morning to do some exercise and o for a walk.
