Nina's Blog - Thursday 19th September 2024

Today I intend to take a bag of clothes to the local charity shop. I've started to be a bit more efficient at culling the lists of things that have been listed online for a long time without being sold.

And I really must do my nails, the Nightshade varnish is all chipped, half of it is missing. I intended to do it yesterday but had to rush out in such a rush that I forgot all about it.

Took the bag of clothes to the charity shop. Got there too early because I had misremembered the opening time so I had a slightly longer walk than expected while killing time until they opened. So here are some pictures taken on the walk.

The view across the fjord from the ferry. If you peer at it you should be able to see an electricity pylon

Here's the pylon on the other side, or should I say this side, that is the side I'm standing on

Skerries a bit further upstream, with an old navigation light.

I really must get back into practising doing my nails. My wife will do mine if I ask, but I'd like to ne competent enough fo my own. Doing my left hand is pretty easy, doing my right is just embarrassing.

@ninalanyon Glad to know you're environmentally conscious. No sense in wasting nail varnish.

@22Michelle More like too mean and lazy to buy more I'm afraid. :-)

@ninalanyon I knew that, I was being polite!

Today's outfit is a little unusual, perhaps you can see why

@ninalanyon Isvthat a kilt or a an adapted rug?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@22Michelle It's a sort of small blanket or outsized scarf. I've run out of long skirts and I've been intending to try wearing as skirts some of the big scarves that my wife had accumulated. While rummaging after skirts in a box I came across this and tried it. It wraps a bit over one and a half times around me so I rolled the top over and pinned it at one side with a kilt pin. As you can see in the pictures the side that was unpinned started to fall down a little. It's a good job it's s soft woolly blanket material and not a smoother scarf. I redid it when I got home with a kilt pin both sides. I don't know why I didn't try it with kilt pins before, I kept on thinking of complicated schemes with belts and elastic, none of which seemed likely to work without an excess of complication.
