Nina's Blog - Sunday 25th August 2024

Sunday 25th August 2024, 09:58

Managed to struggle out of bed a little earlier today, 09:00 instead of 09:30. I intend to work harder to get more sensible sleep patterns when I get home.

Checked my route home with abetterrouteplanner.com and found that it's 2700 km, 33 hours of driving, 5 hours on the ferry, and about 8 hours charging, about 45 hours altogether. So adding time to sleep and eat it will take at least four days.

That's a good trip. Drive carefully because the police want your dollars

@turbineman40 The police generally do not receive any income from fines in Europe as far as I know. Certainly not in the UK or Norway. It just goes to the state.

@ninalanyon Not only that, but in the UK at least the Police do not even impose, let alone collect, fines, even summary ones.

The basic principle is that the Police are there to uphold the law and find offenders; not try the suspect nor impose any punishment.

Only two bodies have the power to levy fines: Courts of Law, and city councils authorised to impose charges for a very few, local driving offences such as driving in bus lanes.
