Nina's Blog - Thursday 25th July 2024

Thursday 25th July 2024, 10:47

Quieter in the house now, just me and the dog. My sister and my nephew have gone out to a dog training session with the healthy dog.

So I'm enjoying watching The Repair Shop. Quiet, happy television.

And yesterday we did go Currys and my sister did splash out 1 999 GBP on the Lenovo Yoga 9.

My sister seems to think that just because the money came out of a different account that it is somehow different in kind so she can spend two thousand pounds from her savings on a laptop but is making the vet wait for an overdue 600 GBP bill to be paid until next pay day despite the risk that this will quite likely result in the vet charging interest or some kind of penalty.

It's a very nice laptop but cost twenty times what I paid last year for the one I am typing this on. Mine is a second hand Thinkpad T460s that is eight years old and works perfectly. Mine also has twice as much storage as the Yoga 9 because I swapped in the SSD from my previous laptop.

Saw these plants in the parking lot of "the Forge,". The place where I meet Peter and who is helping me make the wagon wheels.

Sorry, I don't have a name for this flower

@turbineman40 Evening primrose I think.

@turbineman40 According to Google Lens the second one is Midwestern beggar-ticks, Bidens aristosa, at it looks like it to me.
See https://gobotany.nativeplanttrust.org/species/bidens/aristosa/

I'm not sure we have that one in Norway but we have plenty of Evening primrose.

@turbineman40 Wagon wheels? Are you making an old fashioned wagon with wooden wheels and iron tyres? I'm sure there would be people here who would love to see pictures and descriptions.

@ninalanyon This is the wagon

gon

I am building

The Wagon are a project all to themselves. Ten spokes on the front wheels and twelve spokes on the rear larger diameter wheels

@turbineman40 Wow! You should take lots of pictures. I'm sure a series of posts documenting the process would be very popular and not just on SW.

@ninalanyon The plants are very large and are leaning over into the parking area.
