Almost time to leave the cottage.

The sun is shining so it's time for an even shorter skirt. But is this too short?

Checked in to my accommodation which turns out to be a room in a big three storey semi detached house. Not sure what the owner's plans are but it has quite a lot of potential I feel. Unfortunately right now it is definitely work in progress and he's not terribly well organized. He texted me the door entry code which works fine. He also, in a separate text sent me the wifi password but neglected to tell me which access point it was for. It seems that his neighbour's wifi has stronger radios because I naturally tried the ones with the highest signal strength first but those three didn't like the password.

The next problem is that the lock on my room is finicky. It took me several minutes to get it unlocked after I locked myself in, I was starting to get a bit concerned that I might not be able to get out!

@ninalanyon Nina...not sure we would be able to play in that environment xx
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@oldundieslover I kept fiddling with it and it seems that it is a bit easier now. I sent a message to the landlord and he told me that i could just leave it unlocked as I'm the only person here for these two nights.

The whole place would annoy you I think, everything is not quite straight and level. There is a six foot wooden wall across the front of the property with a door that has a notice saying open outwards. That's because the ground on the inside slopes up so the door will only open about forty degrees. The front door also scrapes on the floor and the internal door handle sticks in the downward position when you open it from the inside so when you pull the door closed from outside you get a voice saying "Operation did not succeed" because the code lock is unable to latch the bolt.
But it's clean and only 27 pounds a night. And the landlord actually answers messages reasonably promptly.

@ninalanyon Oh Dear..we would still have sex there xx

On the way to the pub I detoured through Rosehill Victoria Park

Did you expect more scenery? There wasn't much really although it is a pleasant park. It's mostly a vast expanse of grass with a few trees, and in one corner there are some flower beds, tennis courts, a kiosk selling ice cream, and a crazy golf course.

It was very pleasant to stroll on the grass after the shock of densely populated Sheffield and Rotherham. On the map Rawmarsh looks like it's in the countryside but in fact it's densely built. It's quite a contrast to Middleton even though it's less than 45 miles drive away, probably not over 30 as the crow flies.

So here I am enjoying the open space before plunging back into the traffic on the way to the pub.

Not to short!

Guess what I found today?
With eight chargers. It's not open to the public yet
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@turbineman40 That's slightly under the average number of chargers per station but about the usual number for chargers at a Tesla service centre. World wide they have about 6 000 stations with about 55 000 charging stalls.

https://insideevs.com/news/705972/tesla-supercharging-network-roughly-6000-stations/

Is it the only Tesla charging station in your area?
turbineman40 · 80-89, M
@ninalanyon yes it is the only one and so new that it's not open to the public yet
turbineman40 · 80-89, M
@ninalanyon I think it will be a service center also. Just guessing because the business is not working yet

I'm now at my absolutely least favourite Tesla charger, Tankersley Manor, near Barnsley. It only does it have only two stalls. But worse is that the establishment itself has a policy against bare feet. I found that out last time I was here last year when I went to get coffee. Of course they didn't tell me until after I had started drinking the coffee. They wouldn't even let me stay until I had finished my coffee but insisted that I get shoes. By the time I got back to my coffee it was cold and I had to argue, successfully, for another cup.

So they won't be getting any business from me today.

Both stalls are occupied and I've been waiting 12 minutes so far. Looks like one is about to move.

Not at all...and I recognise it very well xx
oldundieslover · 70-79, M
@ninalanyon Would I do something like that...Lol xx
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@oldundieslover I hope so!
oldundieslover · 70-79, M
@ninalanyon Yes I would xx

Too early to check in to my accommodation so walked the long way round to the nearest pub, The Queens. I did consider one in the opposite direction but I thought the name of this one was more appropriate.

It's a sports pub but quiet at the moment, apart from some background music. Quite comfortable and the barmaid greeted me warmly. Having a pint of John Smith's and a packet of Pipers beef crisps

While in Matlock I visited half a dozen charity shops. Didn't find anything interesting at a price I was willing to pay until the last one which seems to be the last stop before things are discarded altogether. Dresses were 2 GBP each. At that price I'm willing to try to wriggle in to a size 14 so I bought three.

Here's one them, rather a close fit

Car fully charged so it's time to set off for Rawmarsh.

A pair of young women just came into the bar to get drinks to take outside. Dressed just in shorts and sports bras. Lots of skin on display, and quite attractive. But they have rather more skin covering rather more flesh than would have been the case when I was their age forty years ago. They aren't fat but they must be close to what the NHS considers overweight and I certainly would have considered them as unusually hefty all those years ago.Have ideas of feminine beauty changed so much? Or is it a sign of the liberation of women that they simply no longer care what men think

I remember my mother asking at our graduation if my former girlfriend was pregnant but she was nowhere near as chunky as most young women are now

In the Butterfingers café, Matlock having a strange cake called Kinder cookie cake and a mocha.

The cake is interesting, lots of different textures. But of course it is very sweet, not the sort of thing one would want to eat too often.

There's a hefty bald guy sitting facing me at the next table, tattoos and muscle suggesting he worked at something strenuous. He's with a woman that I presume is his wife. She's dressed in a demure summer shift. Both in their late fifties or early sixties perhaps. So far so conventional. But he has at least three piercings in each ear with a ring about an inch long in each

Here's the café

I think I must have a doppelganger. A guy on his way out of the bar stopped and asked me if I had been to Whitby. I said yes but not recently, to which he replied that he saw someone there a couple of months ago who was "The spitting image of you.". He went on to say that the person in Whitby had been wearing better heels. I'm barefoot.

This was all done with a friendly smile.

I forget where but someone else also asked me a similar question not so long ago. Perhaps I don't dress as unusually as I thought.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No - you have the legs for it!
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@ArishMell Thank you! I'll keep showing them off until they get too wrinkly.
