Nina's Blog - Friday 14th June 2024

Friday 14th June 2024, 14:27

Back to near real time posting, well same day at least. Did 8 000 steps on today's walk. Good job I did it this morning because it is now quite miserable out there, cold and raining.

So here are various flowering plants seen today.

Cow parsley? My wife would have known exactly what it was, she was both interested enough to memorise large parts of the flora and had a memory that didn't fade away.

I think there will be a pretty good crop of blackberries later

Some rather poor pictures of some small flowers

And something I recognize! Clover:

Last years dock?

More common plants that I should know the names of

And down by the river

And by the fence enclosing a pumping station, strawberries

They didn't taste of much though. Next to the strawberries was a patch of dandelion like flowers whose name escapes me

And a step further along these lilac coloured flowers

By now I'm not far from my sister's place but I haven't walked my target of 6 000 steps so I backtrack a little to walk through a bit of parkland and then I see a lonely pair of birch trees. They aren't especially common around here but they grow almost like weeds in some parts of the Nordic countries. I had a much larger one in my garden, over ten metres tall and half a metre diameter at the base

On the way back from my walk I walked along a narrow street that I must have walked hundreds of times, certainly three or four times in the last couple of weeks. So I was a bit surprised to see this:

It looks like it might be fairly recent but surely not within the last two weeks.

Great photos. You can get a free app on your phone called Plantnet. It identifies any plant you photograph.

@turbineman40 It's a beautiful country, shame about the state of the government and public services though. :-(
