Nina's Blog - Wednesday 16th August 2023

Wednesday 16th August 2023, 12:03

Went out for a longer walk today, almost 6 000 steps. Brilliant sunshine so no need for a jacket today. Here are some of the plants I saw along the way.

A pretty bindweed. There were impressive clusters of bindweed on some dead tree branches but they were too far off the path into the undergrowth to get a good picture using my mobile, I should take my Canon with me more often.

An evening primrose

Life will find a way even growing on rocks

Lush vegetation beside the ditch between the path and the field

And here is one of my favourite plants, pineapple mayweed

And it is the time for fungi as well

Beautiful scenes.

@ArishMell Thank you. I'm really glad I live in a place that has a good balance of ease of reaching both the natural world and centres of population and services. I'm 22 km from a town of 75 thousand, five minutes walk to a small beach and a marina, five minutes walk into the woods, ten minutes drive into the hills to find prepared cross country ski trails in the winter, not that I have been skiing for more than twenty years. I wonder if I should post some more distant shots, but that will risk revealing where I am; I wonder if anyone nearby is on SW.

@ninalanyon Be careful, there are more and more violent nutcases in the world!

Just making a comment in response to you being "risky".

@Carazaa The risk I had in mind was that someone I know might see the pictures and recognize who I am. It never occurred to me that anyone might do me physical harm as a result, that seems so unlikely as to not be worth thinking about.

Strictly speaking, in statistical jargon terms it's actually the hazard I suppose, the risk is the probability that the hazard actually occurs. The risk is very low I think, and the hazard is more that it would complicate my life rather than that I would come to physical harm.
