I don't think asking about someone else's kids is the right way to go on social media in any aspect.

Whoever this was is just fishing and probably sends the same message to a lot of people, hoping to get a bite. The fact that you're a woman and a parent is probably all it takes for you to be targeted by this person.

I have gotten similar messages. I think all they need to see is that someone is a parent, and they will try their luck.
