Do you ever think about old online friends you've lost touch with?

Not necessarily from EP/SW.

As someone who's been posting online regularly since 2006, I have made many friends online who have come and gone. A few whom I lost touch with long ago and I wonder what became of them. (In most cases, it was a matter of the site we were talking on shutting down, and then having no way of contacting each other afterward).

I've also made some online friends whom I now talk to outside of the site we met on and I don't anticipate losing touch with them. But I can't help but wonder about the ones who are no longer in my life.

The ones I think about are distant family members whom I have discovered through genealogical research. I enjoyed sharing family information with them, but a few have disappeared, possibly even died.

@exexec i too discovered and rediscovered many relatives while researching especially during covid times.
The initial thrill is over and some are again lost and inactive. Most respind on birthdays and other greeting days.

@WandererTony I managed to meet a few in person, and that was special. I seem to be the family historian by default.

@exexec thats so nice to know. Keep up the good work. Some day they will thank you for all the database. 😊

What software do you use? I did Ancestry, then shifted to geni.com. now am part of the grand world family tree 😀

@WandererTony I keep my information in Family Tree Maker, but I use Ancestry.com for most online research. The two are synched.
