I had a look at Facebook today

Must say that the way it operates is detrimental to all the businesses that use it as their web site.
I was thinking about going somewhere different for breakfast this morning and noticed many businesses had Facebook as their only point of contact.
Well we all know that one can view the first page of Facebook without being a member, but any further is out of bounds to non members.
What a backward way of doing business. There would be so many non members unable to view menus and the like that the business will not get their cash.
Case in Point, I was looking at a particular business which I thought I might visit though because I was unable to view their menu I will not be going there to spend my money.
What a crazy business model. The businesses are doing themselves a disservice by using Facebook as their only point of contact.
This is not how Facebook started out, was it?
I thought it was to connect people, all over the world.
Now it is what? Add your own thoughts...

No, this is within the last few years they started that. And I have noticed it back then.

I dumped FB before I joined here in 2016. It was getting too personal for my liking. Wanting proof of ID and such.

Sorry folks I'm not selling myself for any social media. That's worth more than a few thousand dollars of social activities. And they put advertising on top of that, then track you everywhere. And they can with real ID.

@DeWayfarer Proof of ID? Never heard of that on there.

@Sazzio If you are political on FB with a fictitious username like mine was, they insist on some form of identification.

I am very much political. And trolls on FB will report you if they don't like your political opinions. This happened to me twice.

I will not be silenced by some trolls.

@DeWayfarer I joined fb 2008 with real name, as it was popular and all my friends were on it.

Sorry to hear that. Forums can be a hard place thanks to certain individuals.

@Sazzio This was during that time. I had already left another site before I joined here.

What annoyed me the most was it's was my great grandfather's only name. And no way to prove it.

Yet a couple of highschool class mates had already identified me on their own.
