Economic War

CANADA is now in an economic war with the world bully. Canada, buy Canadian. Canadian women don't buy American beauty products. Take pride in your beautiful Canadian faces!. Buy nothing American. Keep calm and be Canadian!!!

actually the largest importer of oil to the USA is Canada with a staggering 50 percent plus import. Oil, is inelastic in demand meaning even with price hikes from tariffs US will have to consume oil at the higher prices / having a small marginal impact on Canadian export of oil.

It will be interesting to see if the oil exports will drop, I am hoping they do not (despite paying more) because my countries plan B for oil shortages is to invade and pillage another country and steal their oil (like in Iraq)

in a scary way it feels like the plan B might be in motion in an incognitio sense. If I lived in Angola, Columbia or other I would be really nervous right now. I wouldn't put Brazil in a safe space even.

Canadian oil can stay in the ground - yes it is a major economic hardship to Canada

We pay the tariff on the oil not Canada they will still sell it to us and others. They will be fine--we will not.

the crude oil we produce is mostly unusuable domestically. it is a fascinating concept and worth looking into but i put a quick link in here talking about crude oil production to usuable oil. Also oil companies in the USA will sell for the most profit with the least expenses. Shell and Exxon would probaby rather sell to those who can buy without converting. They don't care about American's in the slightest.

Trump can deal with shortages and massive price increases
he is really dumb dude. he does not have the ability to think conceptually which what would be needed to navigate an international trade process (or opt out of internaitonal trade). he is not going to deal with nor have ability to deal with jack and squat.

Wow. So every bit of oil we've harvested has been useless. You'd think after all these decades we'd have figured it out

The Dunning Kruger is strong here

@Thrust mostly is the wrong word choice and the economics of the USA's input / export is hard to qualify in a post but well worth the rabbit hole.
