Hopefully, it's a lot of fuss about nothing - but it's better to evacuate if you are told to and you don't NEED to be there.
It could be that they're more worried about the smoke on your lungs than the actual flames. I found it hard to witness someone I was close to struggling to breathe because of wildfires.
