yes, thankfully

One can only hope. I liked life better when people kept lives private. Now it can be competitive to see who can brag the most.
deadteddy · 26-30, F
@Yourguyinthecity Life was less complicated and more “ organic “ before social media.
Yourguyinthecity · 51-55, M
@deadteddy exactly! I actually gave up my socials last month because I found myself depressed because I couldn’t afford the vacations that friends were taking. Definitely not worth that pain.
Magenta · F
@Yourguyinthecity Plus narcissism has increased.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I don’t think it will, it will probably just develop into bigger and better things.
Pfuzylogic · M
It depends on how it is integrated into AI
krf336 · M
If it is regulated and censored to death it will in the current form. But unfortunately it will continue to evolve into an even bigger waste of time.
Prisoner1972 · 51-55, MVIP
It will go out of style just like cell phone ownership. Back in the days it was cool and hip to have a cell phone. Where you could call somebody from your car or from wherever the hell you were. But now it's becoming a necessity. You need a cell phone to get by and modern society. Cell phones are no longer cool. And social media, right around the corner, will be no longer cool -- necessary to have just like an address. So the coolest factor is lost out on the necessity factor.

I hope one day , but I doubt . Not anytime soon.
Wizardry · 46-50, M
Good question. Have wondered about that Hopefully no. Did find it helpful especially. When we had to be stuck at home. During the early days of pandemic
has it not already? between peak internet usage, ai deep fakes, and exposed propaganda waves, does anyone trust the social part of it anymore?
miette · 26-30, F
I think it could, but I don't think it will be anytime soon. I can see it changing shapes a few times before going out completely.
Deceased · M
Social media as a certain generation such as myself knows it. Its going to start being more of a tik tok style of social media.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Since its replaced Common Sense... It'll be here for awhile. At least until the #woke f#ckwits find a way to ban it.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
I don't think social media is that toxic as a whole. It's mostly Instagram, SnapChat, and Twitter.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
as soon as they get 3d holograms and android robots

birth rate is going to the negative
Probably not. At this point, it's another mainstay part of mass media, like TV and radio.
Lostpoet · M
I don't think so, it does have a negative impact on society though.
Hmm very likely.. with AI data collection has shifted.
ArtieKat · M
Social media will evolve.

Welcome to the madhouse, by the way, @MrsLaurH
WhateverWorks · 36-40
I wish, but unlikely . It’s integrated at this point.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
Yes. I think everyone will be on VR in the future.
Disguised · 56-60, M
It's going to become antisocial media

Don’t use it if you don’t like it
DDonde · 31-35, M
When AI learning becomes so sophisticated that any scammer can learn how to replicate your voice and image from a handful of videos that you uploaded to facebook... That'll be the death of social media. You'll never trust your phone again.
FeetAreFantastic · 41-45, M
No, and with the rise of AI I predict it will only get worse than it already is.
Soon 90% of profiles will entirely AI created meaning you are essentially interacting with a robot. But you won't know this because the AI will be so advanced that you can't tell fake from real. And yes this will include audio and video (deep fakes). You could even have a video conversation with someone who is entirely fake and never know it.
Monalisaa1986 · 36-40, F
Probably but there will be something else if social media goes out of style
For sure. In fact, the whole Internet is just a fad
