Tbh I think we'll see a rise in anonymous account activity and less desire for people to be their real selves online as I believe accountability will become stricter and more confining terms will be reinforced against people using double standards and hypocrisy.
Which many have been getting away with, via their virtue signaling and cancel culture bravado.. Those times will shrink away, facts and logical accuracy will matter more, and thus the desire to easily hide ones true self will be more desired as more accountabilities will be upheld on "Verified" type platforms..
And of course rather than simply changing to be a better person, the first thing those types of people attempt to do is revolt in some way or form.. And thus anonymous activity will likely increase.. That is my prediction anyway..

The technology is slowing down some. So it's hard to say in which direction it is going. Social media follows the technology.
If you would have asked this question two years ago I would have said AI would have more of a part in social media. As well as the virtual reality aspects.
With the way Zuckerbergs metaverse is going, it's basically dead in arrival. In twenty years I suspect the beginnings of human brain to computer technology will start to happen. Perhaps 30 years. I'll be long gone by then though.
I started in computers in it's infancy in the mid 1970s.

@DeluxedEdition that would be concerning tbh
Idk but i think it should be more controlled like individual access to the internet should be monitored and verified for less fraud and bs. As it is; its like the wild west out here .. and law enforcement needs to keep up
