In terms of blocking…

People often ask, "why would you block someone you’ve never even spoken with ?" There are lots of reasons, but imagine you’ve posted about one of the worst experiences of your life, and a brand new profile checks it with
What would I ever want to say to that person ? 🙁
SW-User
There's one guy that sets up new profiles to view mine and he's just being creepy and I've nothing to report as such, so I've started to respond to him saying "hiya" insert name" how are you?

He then denies he is who he is, and disappears

This happens every month or so🤣🤣🤣
SW-User
@iamonfire696 no, he disappears, there's never any other activity on the profile
romell · 51-55, M
@SW-User he's from FBI lol
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@SW-User are the names always similar to each other?
MellyMel22 · F
I had 3 at once doing it while I spoke of myself and my kids being very sick with Covid. It was the same coward, they were shadow banned I believe b/c I never could see the accounts.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@MellyMel22 I am sorry that’s awful
Golfer · 61-69, M
Block whenever for whatever you wish! This isn’t about being fair…it’s about making your experience …where you are …how you want it! I happen to block perfectly nice people all the time…mostly those that are younger than 16 …
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Usually do block strangers that post vile things why should I keep company with folks I know I'm not going to get along with?
Always an individuals choice.
fun4us2b · M
@Justmeraeagain yup - this about sums it up!
I have been known to click the wrong emoji. Maybe that was it.

Maybe it was a jerk and either way, you didn't lose anything.

This is the only place in the world I can sculpt my environment, and I do.
SW-User
I've noticed though that sometimes I am trying to click on the sad emoji and I click s different one instead by mistake. If I notice it I correct it immediately. But sometimes it could be just a mistake.
alan20 · M
@SW-User I do that all the time. I've almost stopped using emojis. Hardly know what 80% of them mean.🤥
SW-User
@alan20 I just use the basic ones. Some of them really confuse me.
Piper · 61-69, F
@SW-User That's happened to me many times also, when I just click on the corner of the reactions rectangle. Sometimes it keeps happening when I immediately try to change it, and I hope that person doesn't notice. 🥴
Rutterman · 46-50, M
Assuming the emoji wasn't clicked in error, this sounds like a block-worthy offense to me.

And why waste your time discussing the matter with this person? I think it's better to block without comment and move on.
JustNik · 51-55, F
Heck bijoux, there are folks here who block just because they can. You owe no explanations, but I’m sorry that happened. 🤗
tindrummer · M
I don't block but when a trumper or conspiracy type blocks me good riddance
sciguy18 · M
I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt that they may have inadvertently hit the wrong icon (I know I have.). If it’s repeated however...
@sciguy18 If it’s someone I’ve seen before, I do too. But with a new profile that has no info and no posts I’m a bit suspicious.
I had someone do that on [b]one of my posts talking about people dying from covid. I assume its a moron trumper so whatever.
Ontheroad · M
I might have asked that question a month ago... until I started blocking idiots. Basically I now block quite free handedly.
IamLara · FVIP
I have seen some creepy profiles here.
Very suspicious.
Men acting like Women.
Crazy shit.
alan20 · M
Very understandable. Nobody should want to hurt another.
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
That’s happened to me too. I just ignored
Sometimes when people respond I don't even comment or read what they wrote. I just block them immediately cause I know how humans are. Whatever they commented I know it is just another attack and they just aren't important enough to deal with. Needless to say I now have to ration blocks. lol
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
People are really insensitive. This is what I feel, if you can't say something to help anyone. It's best to keep quiet.

Why make someone feel worse? It's like adding more salt to the wound. Wish people were insensitive.

🤗
SW-User
I would get into my Clint Eastwood mode "do you feel lucky, punk?"
@SW-User They didn’t say anything. They just clicked that emoji.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Cowards probably
That's happened with me several times.
I don't block them, I just ignore them.
@PhoenixPhail I block when I don’t want the person to access my posts again. Ignoring them can’t insure that.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I would ignore them. Yet I don't block even those I totally disagree with or even trolls.

This is a personal decision. I also don't judge those who do so even when it effects my own feed.

I still wish those who blocked me well... yet good riddance! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thing is those that block many often have a second or third account which this site is perfectly ok with them doing.
@DeWayfarer I block because I’ve been attacked here. It’s unsettling, and it interferes with my feelings of safety on the site. I know some people play games, but I have no other profile.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard I understand.

I don't judge those that do so. Not everyone can.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
But yeah I've blocked a few islamophobes on here without ever interacting with them.
@assemblingaknob I can understand that. I’ve blocked a few bigots preemptively as well.
Punxi · 26-30, F
Never ceases to amaze me anymore, those that hide behind an alt one moment and " heart" your post the next. 🤷‍♀️
scorpiolovedeep · 51-55, M
When someone takes the piss out of you ….(ridiculing you ) , you can block them.
Ramrod · 46-50, M
I don't feel the need to explain when i mute or block someone, I have my reasons.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I have done that too! Some things do not deserve my attention.
I get it, but I also see where maybe you've got too much time on your hands to go out and block preemptively. Now, ... If it happened twice, um... Ok.
@bijouxbroussard I get it. I wasn't meaning to criticize blocking as much as saying, he or she probably isn't worth your time to block.
@MistyCee If it keeps them from having immediate access, it’s worth it.
@bijouxbroussard You're choice, my friend, but you've got a lot more to offer, imo.
Piper · 61-69, F
If intentional, that was obviously extremely 'mean' and petty. I can think of several things some of us might want to say to that person, including me.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
Maybe theynare old and accidentally clicked on the wrong emoji. My mother who is not very familiar with smart phones is guilty of that.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I'd call them out on it. Tag them and ask what do they find funny.
@CrazyMusicLover I used to. Now I don’t waste the time. And I’ve encountered some real viciousness. I’d just as soon not deal with it.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@bijouxbroussard I'd do it just to see if it was by a mistake.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
I've deleted posts because of idiots like that. Blocking is a good idea.
Wallflow3r · 26-30, F
I find the emoji with the two thumbs up to be worse.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Wallflow3r I hate that one too
@Wallflow3r I would in that instance, but I use that one when I’m congratulating someone. The one this person posted indicated laughter.

I would block for that too. How could someone be so awful on a post like that. You have to block and protect yourself. I am sorry that happened.

I have to say when I react to a post I have hit the wrong reaction and I hate that. I correct it but the person sees that first reaction. I also bookmark posts a lot since it’s right by the reaction button too.
Its a sad thing that trolling has become 'hip'. People get a kick out of being psychologically nasty or harassing .

I feel sorry for them. Its a mild form of psychopathy .

@markansas same on those last three particular users. I might delete their replies though just to warn them that I can do just that!

I'll delete the whole thread just so they don't get any notifications. Even my own replies.

I really would like to see a post block. Where they are only blocked on one post. Make it apart of the post.

The opposite of what they did on private groups long long ago, where only those tagged in the group or post where able to reply or post.
