🇮🇹 ITALY VS AUSTRIA 🇦🇹 [I Love Real Football]

Is it just me... or is this a fairly boring game?
... I was expecting a bit more action for this one.

Best action, was the foot safe by the austrian goalie. What a safe!

It's soccer, of course it's boring.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@LookingForTheSummer Agreed. Professional soccer is boring af, but I also recognize why soccer itself is such a widespread and universal sport.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@LookingForTheSummer No, I understand that kids kick cans around. And we played football with pinecones. But we also hit pinescones with a stick.
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@BlueMetalChick Yes, there can be some boring matches. I agree.
Professional football is much more than just a sport right now. It's very influential in many ways. It used to be better in the past when there was not this much money involved.

Chiesa 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️

@Elessar Hey, he was a show off, but he had some great moments.

But trully, Italy is getting a lot of praise (before the game of yesterday) mainly because they are playing a game that is very un-Italian. For as long as I watch international games, Italy plays with 8 defenders, and 2 deep strikers. And if those strikers were of incredible quality, the midfield defensive team could play a long ball towards the island, and the 2 guys rambled up the opponents defense and scored their goals. But in the first 3 games, Italy plays a really attractive game of offensive quick modern football. I just didn't see that yesterday.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Kwek00 That guy is/was a living meme. He was overestimated as a player tbh, but he definitely gave us some unforgettable moments like that gif lol

Yeah, it's indeed a different team/game than we're used to see. Yesterday's match felt sub-par in the second half to me, I don't have much to say about the first (it was basically a stalemate? nothing too unusual imo), and as I said in the other thread I think the way the match has been refereed potentially played a role in that.
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
Italians 🤌🤌

Elessar · 26-30, M
@LookingForTheSummer The British TV confused Austria (AUT) with Australia (AUS)? 🤌🤌 lol
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Elessar wow, I didn't even see they had the Italian Emoji 🤌
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@Elessar Lol, well, it's BBC. You can't expect much from them.
adorbz · 26-30, F
that’s a cool goal though 🤩
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@adorbz yeah, great action.
Mordi · 31-35, M
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Mordi You know Mordi, me and my dad, we absolutely dislike Witsel.
And the person that I consider or most inteligent football comentator out here, also said in a podcast that he really doesn't understand Witsel. BUT pretty much every trainer he talked too, and the trainers that we get to see on television, love him. Apperently, he's the guy that brings some peace in the game, which allows other players to save energy for those important moments.

For me, he's just the guy that gets the ball, and passes it too the back. My dad sends me text messages when he plays the ball to the front because it's a "wow" moment. But apperently, Trainers lover that shit.

When it comes to this, me, my dad, you and my favorite sports commentator... we all think the same. But trainers disagree with all of us.

Fellaini is a beast though. I love him because no one sees him comming even when he's a giant with an afro.
Mordi · 31-35, M
@Kwek00 Well, trainers are never right. At least we learned something today. 👍

I was going to prove this point with some cutting edge stats I dug up. Showing everyone I am the smartest man to ever talk about football on the internet. Witsel has only played 121 minutes in 3 games, so that matters a bit. He has the highest passing accuracy on the entire team with a disgusting 98.5%. 🤮 But I'll surely see him lose the ball again tomorrow. 😡
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Mordi That's because Witsel passes back more then 90 percent of the time.

Just look at him go tomorrow Mordi. He'll get the ball, and then he passes it to the back. Gets the ball again, passes it to back. It's always "back" and "wide". If he passes a ball to the front, you drink a shot... no worries. It's the drinking game for people that need to drive home.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Kwek00 Not 😱
Elessar · 26-30, M
Too nervous to be bored 😅
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Kwek00 Well yeah, offside. 🌝
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Elessar No, it's totaly correct. Offside is offside, and I'm okay with the VAR. Lukaku was a few centimeters offside last week and the VAR also disalowed the goal, and it's fine by me.

It's just a bit sad that this is an exciting moment in a game where the Italians didn't really show a lot. Extra time was better, but overall the Austrians played a better game for the entire match. But Italy won, more efficient but "feelings" didn't agree with how the match was played so far. But that's football too.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Kwek00 I don't disagree; football fans aren't famous for sportsmanship over here anyway. In my area we were more concerned about the fact tomorrow would've been national mourning day had we lost this one.

About the quality of the game, I don't know, I think this game would've developed differently hadn't it been refereed the way it's been. A lot of dirty game being allowed, Di Lorenzo getting that yellow card evidently impacted emotionally the whole team. The second half was played worse by Italy than the first, imo.
adorbz · 26-30, F
Now I’m just turning it on now 😆 extra time shouldn’t be boring 👀👀
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@adorbz You missed a great safe from the Austrian Goalie.

And the VAR didn't allow an Austrian Goal...
But Austria actually had a few good attacks in the 2nd half.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Damn you Italy
Couldn't you have done this in the first 90 minutes.

I believed in you 🙇‍♂️
adorbz · 26-30, F
Oh well then 🤪 italy have been so good since i started watching
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@adorbz So you think it's your fault? Mordi already claimed that it was his. You better fight out who I need to blame for this, because I can't blame everyone.
SW-User
I would replace Immobile. He plays like he is with the other team
adorbz · 26-30, F
Wow di lorenzo just ran past all of them 🤣
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@adorbz Lorenzo does what Lorenzo does.
Really?
The tension in the game is unbelievable

And for Austria to hold Italy like that is impressive
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@InOtterWords Well, I think Austria is doing their best... But I didn't really see the clean finishing passes and actions that makes a game exciting. It's more the tension to at least see that really good action. But it could be just me, this is subjective of course.
adorbz · 26-30, F
I was austrias bad luck charm 😢
adorbz · 26-30, F
YEEEEES LETS DO THIS AUSTRIAAAAA
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
Watched Brasil win the other day.
adorbz · 26-30, F
Oh noooooooooo
GovanDUNNY · M
It is rather tedious
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Wow Austria... from that position
defender that holds that side of the goal... wtf are you doing? You either stand at the pole or you do something else. De Bruyne learned that a long time ago.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Ooh free kick on a nice position.

What now Italy? What now?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
🙇‍♂️
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Finally 😱
SW-User
Yeah it's not great. Annoying too because Italy have been one of the best sides to watch so far
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@SW-User yeh I thought that
