Obviously I've again put a fiver on England .... it's like my regular donation to the CEO of Ladbrokes retirement fund.

I took over in 1984 when my Dad passed away always putting a quid on England in the Euros or World Cup - I can't remember when I decided inflation meant it should rise to a fiver but it did some years back.
It's the only gambling I ever do these days and as I say mostly in memory of Dad. He always used to bring the betting slip home and put it in the fruit bowl on the dining table - then we'd rip it up ceremonly after they were knocked out and put it in his ash tray where it would get burnt up eventually. I've not smoked since before Dad died so I just put it under a fridge magnet on the fridge now. Again it used to be ripped up in a ceremony after we lost 🤣
