Bravo England, I didn’t expect we’d win the tournament, but the semi finals exceeded my expectations.

Yes, the haters are furiously tugging on their little passion pickles, as you’d expect. Let them have today.

But it’s been a good tournament for England. Getting past Mexico was a surprise and everything else since was a bonus. We were inconsistent but I’ve seen enough to be optimistic about future tournaments.

And our fans have had a fantastic time out drinking, out singing and out celebrating our hosts. Certainly baseball player Michael Harris won’t forget us in a hurry.

I’m not particularly arsed about the upcoming game with France. Nobody cares who comes third, it’s not the Olympics.

You did stirling work boys. Thanks for representing us. See you at the Euros.

@BluntSm0ker Yes I’m pleased with them overall. Lots of big teams embarrassed themselves early on - Germany, Brazil, Portugal - so I'm satisfied we’ve played well.

Next time around those who played yesterday will be the same age as the Argentina side are now.
So they'll have grown in experience and hopefully physicality.

And of course others will emerge in the meantime.

England did get muscled off the ball yesterday.
As others have in previous tournaments.
So it might be something to consider when selecting in future.

They didn't have a terrible tournament.

The likes of Brazil, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands did. All four are great powers who did worse than they should with the talent available.

England is ranked fourth by FIFA and got to the semi. It's a solid par, or maybe even a birdie given that Mexico in the Azteca was such a tough assignment.

And yet...

Frustrations linger. England rarely looked convincing, even against weaker opposition. In addition, the manner of the defeat to Argentina is also a blemish given that they are a similar standard to us and we took the lead.

Spain and France are the best two teams and England fans had no eight to expect to win the contest because of that..The most frustrating defeat though is when you fail knowing that you could have done more.
