Why can they just add time for no reason?

@TryingtoLava They don't stop the clock when the ball is out of play, like in other sports. Though time is added on at the end if there was a long stoppage for injuries or a team was wasting time.
In today's games, there has been a crazy amount of time added. 14 minutes in the England/Iran game? That is not normal. Maybe the referees are under instruction to make sure they punish timewasting harshly. There were also two breaks for the Iran keeper's injury.

IKR? The game is 90 minutes, and it's usually over in less than two hours, half time included (they add a few minutes for injuries and minot stoppage).
That's primitive and they have not learned modern ways. Our football games are 1 hour, but we manage to stretch them into 4 hours. That's the way to go.
