Good question. I personally think the SEC could use another 2 or 4 teams, with at least 2 of those other teams also coming from the Big 12.

Though they aren't admitting it yet, A&M and Missouri are the big winners and Georgia and Florida the big losers if Alabama and/or Auburn become SEC-East. Adding another Florida team to the SEC would take the sting away.

My opinions are as a big LSU fan, and I'm not yet feeling comfortable about a SEC-W composed of mostly old Big-8 teams.

@Heartlander How many are in the SEC right now?

@cherokeepatti 14 teams now. UT and OU will bring it to 16 teams. The projection is that the east-west split will be at the Mississippi-Alabama border and some sort or rotating schedule for playing other SEC teams.

I think this is all $$ driven in consideration of the new ruling about players being paid. So look to star high school players suddenly becoming very rich college freshmen with endorsement contracts and few cities in America have more millionaires with big egos than Houston.

@Heartlander Ah that means more home games and more taxes for the city etc. More home games mean that the traffic is messed up more days….oh well.

@cherokeepatti Yes. We drove the I-35 corridor through the length of Texas and Oklahoma routinely (pre COVID) with often an overnight at a hotel along the way. During the fall we had to check football schedules or risk "No vacancy" for hundreds of miles.

@Heartlander I think that’s why so many like to pull an RV or small camper with them when they go to games.

Yep. Some fans will follow their college teams to the end of the earth. SEC division teams are pretty closely clustered, so it's like a easy day's drive or shorter from one to another. There's also big tailgate communities that have developed around the stadiums, with high profile performers and politicians making their rounds. Some family members at an A&M tailgate snatched a visit from Ted Cruz and managed a photo snapshot with him.

@Heartlander they put electrical hookups in one parking lot near the stadium and duck pond for those to rent out on home games. And they are making one big parking lot at county fairgrounds into an RV park like that.
