"being in your cups" is another way of saying, "she's had too much to drink." I don't know the source of the expression other than I've heard my kin use it since forever. It's a popular expression among the Celtic folk, especially the Irish-Viking tribe, that is my background.

Yeppers, the Vikings colonized several regions of Ireland beginning in the 9th to 10th century or thereabouts. After a few centuries they became totally absorbed into the Irish culture. Similar things happened to other Viking tribes such as those who settled in France. They became the Normans who conquered Britain in 1066. Other places as well...such as Spain and Russia. Their community groups were marked by folks with fair hair and blue eyes, nasty tempers, and very mixed results for getting that GQ / Cosmo magazine front cover tan.

@Dr A: What do you mean by "being in your cups"? Hmmm... your bra?

@Annie I had never heard that expression before today, so I thank you for adding it to my lexicon. My lineage is Celtic as well, but not Irish. Yet Vikings? Who knows if you shake my family tree hard enough. :p
