Should cannabis be legalized nationally?

Srsly its not a serous federal law at this point.

sascha · F
I think so, yes.

Proponents do give some stupid reasons for legalization though.

The most compelling reason, by far, is that people shouldn't be arrested or prosecuted for possessing a drug, which is only going to affect them.

This is why I may agree with all drug legalization...it is an overreach when police arrest individuals for doing something that will only have a physical effect on them, and no one else.

Arguments around how marijuana is the same as alcohol, or better than alcohol, or not that bad, just seem silly when you consider that it is no business of the state what a person puts into their body.

@sascha So true, well stated. I am high.

What is a crime? What is punishment? It seems to vary from time to time and place to place. What's legal today is suddenly illegal tomorrow because society says so and what was illegal yesterday suddenly becomes legal today because everybody's doing it, and you can't put everyone in jail. I'm not saying that's right or wrong. I'm saying that's how it is.

The only reason why its still illegal federally is all about politics and money. Many states have proved how it could be controlled legally but its the old politicians that want it to remain illegal to keep a certain industry happy.

I think pot and some psychedelics should be decriminalized. I'm not for legalization, I'm for decriminalization.

It is here 👍. But the good thing is it took it out of the heavy criminal activity

If they do, anb hurry up and asses a tax we could get out of this deficit.

Heck yeah !
Honestly, I think it should. It’s proved no more of a problem than alcohol in the states where it’s legal.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard I’d agree with that assessment....if alcohol and cigarettes are still legal, cannabis should be as well.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
It should.

I think all drugs should be legal or at least decriminalised. The War on Drugs is an abject failure.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@basilfawlty89 Yeah agreed, I sense the war on anything is more political rather than for the genuine concern of people.

I've don't think I have seen much in the way aggression with anyone I've known when under the influence of cannabis. On the other hand, I've seen plenty of aggression and unruly behaviour with people under the influence of alcohol.
Cannabis was outlawed in The U.S.A. In 1937 (although I have seen a few other dates too), including for medical treatment. After continued pressure was put on the government by pharmaceutical companies. Can't think why Big Pharma got involved though. Unless of course it was effecting their profits!
Looks like a nice blunt The Pres has there, he really should pass it around.

It's legal across my country.....it's not a big deal anymore. There's like 5 in my vicinity.
