Started a seven-day steroid pack for my smoke inhalation from my brush fire.

So, this being only day two and the edginess has not set in yet. But I wanted to warn you all around day five through seven I will get a bit grumpy and edgy.

Apologies in advance.

So, tell me about the brush fire... how did you end up out there putting out a brush fire?
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@swirlie I have a timber farm in Southern Ohio and though it has warmed up some and the 16 inches of snow was melting, and Ohio had not burn bans in place. I went out to clear trees and cut firewood so I can plant an apple orchard where the trees and brash had been. The snow was all in the tree tops and brush and I set a small fire at the bottom of the hill beside the logging road, and for an hour I watched it just smolder. This was in the morning with no wind blowing. So, I cut a UTV bed worth of load of firewood and took it to the house to unload and came right back. The wind started to kick up as I was driving downhill to unload and rapidly went to 30 mph gusts. Then snow and wet be damned the fire ate and spread out of control rapidly. I fought and fought then called 911 and went back to fighting until the volunteer fire department arrived. I melted my boots of and burned my jeans off from cuff to knees. My butt was kicked and saved at the same time.

From the red barn uphill, it went burning 3 plus acres

@swirlie The fire was on Tuesday January 28th, 2025, I had my yearly physical on January 29th and started the Steroid pack yesterday morning.

So, how does one go about putting out a brush fire in that location? I don't see any red fire hydrants in the picture anywhere.
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@swirlie Oddly enough they used leaf blowers to clear the leaf litter and blew the ground bear in a five-foot wide swath ahead of the flames in the direction the wind was blowing them, metal rakes and hoes to clear the ground and let it burn to the fire line and die out. One man (me) alone could not keep up or contain it myself. five firemen with the rakes and hoes and one firewoman with the leaf blower had it contained in 30 minutes and burned out in an hour. They threw limbs and branches on the ground out of the way and back into the fire not to provide more ground fuel for the fire.

No farmland does not have your city fire hydrants. I do not have your crime or prices taxes either, trade of for person freedom and not being Karene'd by homeowners' associations condo associations of city ordinance's either. Someone has to grow the wood and food your city dweller's eat and use.

@swirlie Please do not take my replies as negative, I am trying to answer your questions as honestly as I can.

@WillaKissing
I see! ...and yes, you made your point very honestly as well! No crime, no pricy taxes, no HOA fees, no city ordinances either, just lots of wood, lot of brush, lots of food and no ugly fire hydrant stuck in the middle of your front lawn with it's pricy city water feeding it either. I definitely see your point and yes, you probably would have lost your whole property if it weren't for that leaf blower. I'm in, where do I sign?
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@swirlie LOL. I never for the life of myself thought I would buy a leaf blower, and I own a hardwood forest farm, but watching her firewoman kick butt with Her's that is definitely on my list as well as a snow blower.
