Remember that old 80s commercial with the eggs?

There was a commercial in the 80s that depicted eggs in a frying pan. It said this is your brain on drugs while the eggs sizzled away. I always had a problem with that commerical. I don't like my eggs raw so why should my brain be you know?

I'm someone who has done drugs off and on for a long time. I don't believe my brain is fried like that egg. I'm still lucid, I'm still sharp. Sure, I ramble but I don't believe it's drug related. Regardless I just found it silly.

As I'm sure you know, the commercial was done to try to deter people from using. I'm sure many think it is silly but if it prevented even a few from using them it was worth it.

I have known several addicts. I'm sure every one of them would say that drugs did not affect their cognitive ability. A few were able to get clean and go on to be successful. A few are dead. In the middle of that are the ones who get clean on and off, have nothing , have been incarcerated because they committed crimes to support their habit and rely on their families for a place to live and survive.

I live in a small community in southern VT. One would think that small towns like mine are immune from addiction but, sadly, it isn't so.
