Anyone here clench their teeth at night.... Did you find any store bought night guards work Ok?

It's nearly a thousand dollars to get a custom made night guard. I had one many years ago and it was 300 dollars then. I'd say nearly 15-20 years ago now. I really need a new one. My teeth have chipped and I get jaw pain a couple days a week again. It makes you feel tired , the pain. So often I have to skip a walk becasue the pain is just too bad in my jaw. It really Sucks. Anyone ever get a store bought night guard that Works? I bought one several years ago but it wouldn't even mold in hot water like the directions said. I tried many times to get it to soften so I could mold it to my mouth, but it would not soften. Any tips on a brand that might be ok in the short run welcome

Yes I clench my teeth. If I remember right I bought mine from Amazon, and it did help.
(It'll take some time to get use to them .)

Do it, or you'll loose your teeth as I did. But then again, I'm old and always had trouble with my teeth.
At mid fortys a tooth just fell out and I knew it wouldn't be the last.

I do. I've tried the cheap mouth guards and I spent $500 on one at the dentist that it turned out I couldn't sleep in 🙄

I try to just control it mentally. Even if my jaw is stiff I try to keep my teeth parted because my dentist has commented I'm going to hurt my teeth.

I’ve seen them at the drug store but I’ve never tried it. I got mine custom from my dentist about 7 years ago. I think it was around 400$

I bought ones online after a lot of research. I went with Sleep Zee, they (I bought two), I really like them.

@Baybreeze I’m not sure what you mean by front upper teeth.
I bought them for my sleep apnea, and grinding my teeth, works well.

@RebelRaven That's good to know, appreciate it!! Is the guard easy to boil and mold? I bought one year ago and it would not boil or soften.

@Baybreeze I just soaked it in hot water for about 5 minutes

I’ve yet to find me that doesn’t hurt when I try and sleep. Still looking.

I do it anytime I’m in pain without realizing it.

no. I went to a dental school and they ignored the problem. Now my tooth might need to be extracted but i still ignore it because i hate wearing one.

@StygianKohlrabi Ugh .. I've been avoiding it not only b/c of the high price, but also b/c it was soooo uncomfortable getting the fitting. And it hurt too. but i know i really need something really soon. I'm going to try over the counter one more time. Good luck w/the tooth, it's prob. better to get it extracted than infected.

what about the sports ones? would that work for you?
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@GoFish I didn't try those yet... perhaps it could help. Are they in regular stores too or sports store?

Maybe get a pillow like this, where your jaw muscles are more relaxed
