When making a purchase at Walmart you are given $5 too much change. Do you say something or keep quiet ?

4meAndyouF
I always say something. When I was very young, I WAS a cashier, and my change was 80 cents off one day. You should have heard the nasty manager chewing me out.

For five dollars, if it happens often enough, some unwitting cashier could lose her job.
NimbusM
@4meAndyou Good point.
How could that happen when the cash register has the brain for change? I would return it. Those cashiers need to make more money. I call WalMart the corporate pig. They put all the little mom and pop stores out of business. Like a bulldozer running over a small animal. Geez, Nim.
NimbusM
@PoetryNEmotion I never knew they were that bad.
@Nimbus Absolutely. I rarely shop there. That is their protocol. Move to places with a certain population. Move on in. Their prices are so low and they are so large, people flock to them. It is all about convenience. Sell their souls for money. Never liked them.
AbbeyRhodeF
I give it back.
NimbusM
@AbbeyRhode Honest! :)
AbbeyRhodeF
@Nimbus Well, it's not mine, and I wouldn't want the cashier to get in trouble.

I would advise the person they have given me extra money

I cannot see how they make such a silly mistake as the cash register advises the worker how much to give back
NimbusM
@nedkelly Even to a Scouser? :)
nedkelly61-69, M
@Nimbus Silly silly, no honest manager would put a scouser near a cash register in the first place 馃榾

I would return it. The cashier would probably be responsible, and I wouldn't want them to be penalized.
NimbusM
@Byron8by7 Exactly.

I give it back regardless of where I am.

Cashiers can get fired for having a "short" drawer so yes, I give it back.

I was at a convenience store and the cashier gave me more money back than I had given for my purchase. I turned back to the counter and said I was given too much money. After it was sorted, another cashier thanked me for being so honest.
It doesn't matter where I'm shopping. I will still be honest and give the money back.
NimbusM
@SW-User Good to hear :)
Justenjoyit56-60, M
Can we make it $200 instead 馃槒
NimbusM
@Justenjoyit Sorry, no ;)
Justenjoyit56-60, M
@Nimbus Then I would give it back and hope the lady on the counter thanks me馃槉
