So is Walmart Planning On Layoffs?

I heard an employee tell another that she didn’t want to be without a job. Have read that their sales have been going down

I hope all the ones layed off are leftist democrats, they vote for their own demise

It's all self serve now, they don't need many in the store.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Many stores hire more for the holiday season and they are laying off. Consumers can only make their money stretch so far.

"According to a new report, Walmart plans to cut more than 1,000 jobs at an Atlanta, GA facility. This location, as reported by Reuters, tends to online orders placed on the Walmart website. In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) that was filed last week, the department store giant revealed that it would lay off 1,458 workers at the e-commerce fulfillment center located in Fulton Parkway in the Georgia capital."

@4meAndyou Maybe the young woman was just speculating

The grocery shops seem to encourage self scanning now, so less staff needed. However nearly every time I use the self scanners there's at least one problem and i have to wait several minutes for the one staff member to make their way to me to authorise or correct.

@meggie I won’t use them. If they are too chintzy to offer some customer service then I will walk out and leave the stuff in the shopping cart for them to restock.

Not heard that one. I personally don't like or shop WalMart so I hope the company tanks.

Whatever this means

At the time, the company informed investors of an "evolution" in its plans for physical stores, choosing to implement "longer term" business goals. With the upcoming 2022 layoff of almost 1500 employees, those long-range plans and goals appear to be lunging toward the implantation stage.Oct 16, 2022
