@Strictmichael75 I'm sure they did. The large superstore style supermarkets we are talking about weren't around in the 60s and 70s. At least not in the UK. Some of these supermarket carparks don't draw their parking spaces wide enough. The modern trend in cars these days tend to be the SUV style. These are considerably wider than the more traditional hatchbacks or saloon cars. If 2 SUVs park side by side, it's highly unlikely that both of them will be able to open their doors. More often than not you will see these sorts of cars parked over the lines effectively occupying 2 spaces.
